University of Ottawa joins Capital BIXI family

OTTAWA, August 21, 2013  —  The NationalCapital Commission (NCC) is proud to welcome the University of Ottawa into the Capital BIXI family. Two stations of this self-service bike network have been installed on the University’s main campus, offering students and staff, as well as residents and visitors to the National Capital Region, an improved sustainable transportation network downtown.

The two Capital BIXI stations are located, respectively, at the north and south ends of the University’s main campus, on Waller Street near Hagen Hall and on King Edward Avenue near the Minto Sports Complex.

This self-service bike system will give University students and staff an additional option for travel in the campus and downtown areas. The BIXI service is also an active transportation mode for a university community that is already committed to building a greener capital. More than 85% of students and staff use bicycles, public transit or other forms of sustainable transportation.

Because of this change to the self-service bike network, the stations at Arthur and Somerset West and Preston and Carling have been moved. See a map of all 25 stations at capital.bixi.com.

Capital BIXI is also launching a back-to-school offer. Get $10 off a 30-day subscription to Capital BIXI and avoid back-to-school traffic jams! This offer is open to everyone.
