University of Ottawa Board of Governors Adopts Budget for 2013-2014

OTTAWA, June 20, 2013  —  The Board of Governors of the University of Ottawa has adopted the University’s budget for 2013-2014. The budget was approved after consultation aimed at allowing the University to meet the strategic objectives set out in Destination 2020.

The budget includes an average tuition fee increase of 3% for 2013-2014, which complies with the guidelines issued by the Ontario government in April. To counter this increase and improve the affordability of a post-secondary education, the University has increased its investment in its student financial aid and scholarship program by $3.6M, bringing it to nearly $68M for 2013-2014, one of the most generous programs of its kind in Ontario.

The University of Ottawa is one of Canada’s premier post-secondary institutions. This year’s convocation ceremonies saw 7,875 students graduate, the highest number to date. With an annual student population of over 42,000, the University of Ottawa is the largest bilingual (French-English) university in the world.
