OTTAWA, May 1, 2013  —  On Friday, May 3, 300 French as a second language students from 13 Ottawa-area schools will gather at the University of Ottawa’s Jock Turcot University Centre for a day of activities focusing on the rich benefits of bilingualism, as part of a French for the Future Forum.

The Ottawa forum will be hosted by multidisciplinary artist Mehdi Hamdad. It will feature lots of activities on the theme of “French, music to my ears,” including French-language workshops  on various topics, from yoga to a career in translation, as well as a sugar shack lunch, a concert by the Mehdi Cayenne Club and  a version of the TV game show La guerre des clans.

Every year, over a dozen local French for the Future Forums take place in different Canadian cities. Each Forum is organized by a local committee, in order to highlight the region’s particular culture. This year, the Ottawa forum is being organized along with the University of Ottawa and its French Immersion Studies program.
