uOttawa ranked 14th most sustainable university in the world, 2nd in Canada

OTTAWA, January 11, 2013  —  The University of Ottawa has placed among the top 15 most sustainable universities in the world, according to the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking. This represents a jump of five places over last year’s showing of 19th overall, and puts the University of Ottawa second in Canada behind the Université de Sherbrooke.

The University of Ottawa has had severable notable environmental achievements over the past  year, which  helped it move up in the ranking. These accomplishments include the construction of Canada’s largest living wall in the new Social Sciences Building, the creation of a collaborative master’s option in sustainability, the expansion of its Living Laboratory program and the continued success of its EcoProsperity program.

The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is compiled annually by Universitas Indonesia. It is meant to provide an opportunity for institutions from around the world to compare notes about sustainability practices.
