MEDIA ADVISORY: Funeral service for Father Roger Guindon
OTTAWA, November 22, 2012 — The University of Ottawa wishes to inform the media of details regarding the funeral service for former rector Father Roger Guindon. Father Guindon passed away on Saturday, November 17, at age 92.

WHEN: Saturday, November 24, at 2 p.m.
WHERE: Église Sacré-Cœur, 591 Cumberland Street
*Members of the media are asked to confirm their attendance before 5 p.m., Friday, November 23.

Father Guindon, OMI, CC, first came to the University of Ottawa as a student, in 1933, when he enrolled to complete his high school studies. In 1942, he earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, and three years later, a degree in theology. He was ordained a priest in 1946 and taught from 1947 to 1964 in the theology faculty, where he also served as dean for four years. His term as the University’s rector was from 1964 to 1984.
