MEDIA ADVISORY: Groundbreaking for the Advanced Research Complex
OTTAWA,
September 21, 2012 —
The University of Ottawa invites the media to a groundbreaking ceremony for the Advanced Research Complex.
This state-of-the-art research facility for photonics and geosciences will bring together internationally recognized researchers and cutting-edge equipment to stimulate breakthroughs. Using an open-lab concept, ARC will also allow students and researchers to work alongside one another and will promote scientific interchange with visiting researchers and business partners.
WHAT: Groundbreaking ceremony for the Advanced Research Complex
WHEN: Tuesday, September 25, at 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: Site of the Advanced Research Complex (25 Templeton Street, Ottawa, Ontario)*
*In the event of rain, the unveiling will take place in the SITE Atrium (800 King Edward Avenue | map).
The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State, Science and Technology, Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, will be attending the ceremony.
The ceremony will be followed by two other activities:

5 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Networking event with the University of Ottawa’s world-class researchers in the field of photonics.

7 p.m.: Lecture – Bury It. The Green Solution for Nuclear Waste, by Ian Clark, expert in geosciences and professor in the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Science.
