MEDIA ADVISORY: uOttawa to receive unique violin bequeathed by NAC Orchestra violinist
OTTAWA, August 20, 2012 — The University of Ottawa invites the media to the official transfer of a gift of the estate of the late Sally Benson. In the spring of 2012, the long-time NAC Orchestra violinist died of cancer. She was a friend of many uOttawa professors and a highly regarded and respected musician. In her will, she bequeathed her 1761 Landolfi violin and Voirin bow to the uOttawa School of Music.
What: Transfer of a gift of the estate of the late Sally Benson
When: Tuesday, August 21, at 1:30 p.m.
Where: National Arts Centre Foyer, 53 Elgin Street, at Confederation Square
To honour this generous bequest, the School of Music has ensured that the instrument will benefit uOttawa students through a competition or loan program. The bequest is sure to inspire young musicians.
