Our Work
Much of our work is multi-faceted, interdisciplinary in nature, centered around collaborative projects with Indigenous communities in Canada and in the world, or with individuals or institutions dealing with intercultural issues or multicultural contexts.
Some of the activities we are involved in include:
- We work with NGOs or international businesses to train their people to become aware of cultural differences and the impact those differences have on their work;
- We work with minority communities to develop ways that promote their cultural continuity,based on priorities and values they determine.
- We assist groups working to establish cultural centres, museums or local archives.
- We organize ethnographical research, training local researchers, providing intercultural training (or training the interested members of a community) to engage in participatory research.
- We assist in evaluating a cultural or religious tourism sites and work with local groups to ensure continued viability of those sites, and mitigate their cultural impact on the groups involved.
- We evaluate the consequences of a development project on the local women.
