Passe de mammouth (déf): Une manipulation dont on ignore à peu près la nature et le mode de fonctionnement, mais qui semble produire les résultats souhaités. Communément retrouvée en statistiques et en informatique, la passe de mammouth est parfois camouflée par le renvoi à une littérature hermétique et ancienne (e.g. Von Newman, 1944), puisqu'elle s'avère difficile à expliquer pour son utilisateur.
