Specializing in the politics of the former Soviet Union, especially Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan). In particular, I'm interested in the impact of Soviet communism on the development of post-Soviet religious and secular identities.
