Hi! My name is Leah! Welcome to the University of Ottawa!
Did you know that this is North America’s oldest and largest bilingual university? Students here have the choice to study in either French or English or... Or both! So, if you come here, you can live, learn and play in both of Canada’s official languages!
One look at this campus will tell you that uOttawa is overflowing with exciting history. Strolling down the pathways, you’ll see that some of our older and classic buildings have been here for over one hundred years. The University of Ottawa has an eye on the future too with a number of modern, state-of-the-art energy-efficient constructions specially designed to meet your needs as a student. Check out the SITE building, the Biosciences Complex and the brand new Desmarais Building.
This mix of character and technology, old and new creates a special kind of ambience for those who study here. And location is also a big part of it.
The campus is situated right in the downtown core of the nation’s capital! This means we are next to the National Archives, government agencies, and research centres.
We’re just steps away from Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal and some of the best shopping, restaurants and entertainment in Canada. A cosmopolitan atmosphere is a big part of student life here and it’s sure to make a lasting impression on you.
Even though it’s a big campus, you run into friends all day long, which helps create the friendly atmosphere that the University is known for.
With over 34,000 students from over 150 countries, the University of Ottawa is truly an international institution. uOttawa offers you the chance to participate in many exchange programs and study around the world. Now, that’s what I call a mind-expanding opportunity!
And, when it comes to choosing your field of study, you can have your pick with over 300 highly flexible programs offered in 10 different faculties, as well as the third largest co-op education program in Canada. Plus there are over 21 millions dollars in scholarship funds available. There’s no doubt about it, uOttawa offers an educational experience like no other!

The University of Ottawa is located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada's capital city, less than 2,000 metres from Parliament Hill. The University has 38 buildings, with 625 research laboratories and 278 teaching laboratories, spread over three campuses that total 105 acres. There are also seven residences with 2,885 beds on the main campus of the University.
