The University of Ottawa will welcome Canada’s first academic office dedicated to studying the history of nursing.
Courtesy of a $750,000 donation from Associated Medical Services Inc. (AMS), the new AMS Nursing History Research Unit will be created to conduct research and popularize the history of nursing. The University also decided to donate $375,000 to the unit which brings its total endowment to $1,125 million.
AMS Inc is a charitable organization which supports scholarly research and collaborative programs in the broad field of medical and health education. The launch of the new academic office was announced at the Hannah 2005 Nursing History Conference which was held at the University of Ottawa from June 15-16.
