Three uOttawa professors win 2005 Capital Educators’ Awards

Professors Vijay Kapal, John Basso and Christine Suurtamm were among the 16 winners of Capital Educators’ Awards at the fourth annual EduGala banquet held on May 11, 2005.

An initiative of OCRI, the awards recognize Ottawa educators who have made a difference in the lives of their students by acting as role models, instilling confidence and nurturing leadership.

More than 380 local educators were nominated for the awards by current and former students, colleagues, friends and family. The 16 award winners were chosen by a panel of judges from 65 finalists.

The Capital Educators’ Awards are open to educators who are employed by publicly-funded elementary and secondary schools, as well as colleges and universities located within Ottawa.
