Alumnus Rob Ashe has risen to the top of one of Canada’s largest software companies.
On June 23, 2004, he will become Chief Executive Officer of Cognos Corporation, following the retirement of Ron Zambonini, who will remain with the company as chairman of the board.
Ashe, who graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University in1982, is a member of the School of Management’s Advisory Board. He played four years of basketball with the Gee-Gees from 1978 to 1982 and is one of the leading scorers in the history of the team. Ashe is one of the basketball program’s strongest supporters.
A chartered accountant, Ashe’s numerous senior positions at Cognos include: Chief Operating Officer, Chief Corporate Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice-President of Research and Development and Senior Vice-President of Global Customer Services. He is credited with moving the company forward on a number of fronts.
Ashe is an executive member of the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
