Standing Committee on Francophone Affairs and Official Languages elected by Senate

The creation of a Standing Committee on Francophone Affairs and Official Languages in January took a step forward on March 4 when the University Senate elected committee members. This initiative represents one of the key recommendations of the Task Force on Programs and Services in French, whose final report was tabled by the Senate last January.

The Standing Committee, which will be co-chaired by Robert Major, vice-president, Academic and provost, and Victor Simon, vice-president, Resources, is responsible for implementing the 30 other recommendations of the Task Force. Its mandate is to develop and implement initiatives that will allow the University to fulfill its mission and respect its commitment to promote French culture in Ontario.
