Following the student elections held on February 12, 13 and 14, two incumbents on the executive won re-election: Danika Brisson as vice-president, student affairs, and Seamus Wolfe as vice-president, university affairs.
The newcomers are Roxane Dubois elected without contest as vice-president, finance; Joël Larose, who received 57 per cent of the votes against his only opponent, to be elected vice-president, social; and Julie Séguin, who faced incumbent François Picard, received 57 per cent of votes, to be elected vice-president, communications.
A by-election will be held on March 12 and 13 for the position of president of the SFUO.
Student voters were also asked to decide on three referendum questions. They voted 66 per cent in favour of a $1 contribution per full-time student (50 cents per part-time student) in order for the Women’s Resource Centre to operate as a service of the Student Federation. They also voted 73 per cent in favour of contributing a maximum of $125 per full-time student per semester for a Universal Bus Pass. Finally, 70 per cent of voters agreed that the University of Ottawa should have an office of the ombudsperson.
