University of Ottawa celebrates its Loran Scholars

The University of Ottawa celebrated the achievements of its Loran scholars during an event held on January 15. These eight students are recipients of financial support from the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation, which grants Loran Awards — worth up to $75,000 over four years — to 30 young Canadian students annually.

Loran Scholars are provided with a renewable award comprising an $8,000 living stipend matched by a tuition waiver from a partner university. Each student is paired with a mentor who challenges, advises and encourages the scholar.
