For more than three years, the Community Service Learning (CSL) program has helped students connect the dots between their classroom experience and what happens in the workplace. The success of the program comes from the commitment of students, professors, and the organizations that provide a meaningful task for the student’s community assignment.
Nérée St-Amand, Paul Joseph et Robert Major, vice-president, academic
Each year, the Community Service Learning board recognizes a student and a professor for exceptional work accomplished through the program.
This year, Nérée St-Amand of the School of Social Work, was named CSL Professor of the Year for his pivotal role in the development of the Community Service Learning Program. St-Amand, a mental health expert, recognizes the importance of encouraging a sense of shared responsibility among students.
Paul Joseph, a third-year student in International Studies and Modern Languages, was named CSL Student of the Year. In addition to his participation in the CLS program through his history course, Joseph is a Big Brother and is fundraising for the Ottawa Humane Society and the Make-A-Wish Foundation as part of the Co-Curricular Record Program.
