Psychology professors, Richard Clément and Susan M. Johnson-Douglas, have been elected as fellows of the American Psychological Association (APA) for 2004.
APA fellows are selected for their exceptional and outstanding contributions to the research, teaching or practice of psychology. They must also play leadership roles within psychology or community service in their clinical practice.
Clément received his degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1976, and has worked at the University of Ottawa since 1995. He was recently awarded a 2003 University research chair to support his work in bilingualism and society.
Susan Johnson-Douglas pursues research work in interpersonal relationships and couple therapy among other interests. She recently co-edited a book with Valerie Whiffen called Attachment Processes in Couple and Family Therapy.
Based in Washington DC, the American Psychological Association is the world's largest association of psychologists. APA's membership includes more than 150,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students.
