The Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI) Life Sciences’ 14th Annual Achievement Awards dinner on September 24 celebrated the outstanding achievements and innovations of Ottawa-area individuals, teams and companies. Three uOttawa members are recipients of the 2007 Ottawa Life Sciences Achievement Awards.
Health Innovation Award
Dr. Claire-Jehanne Dubouloz, director, School of Rehabilitation Sciences and associate dean, Faculty of Health Sciences
Dr. Dubouloz is recognized for her innovative and holistic approach to providing rehabilitation services to francophone Canadians.
Research Award
Dr. May Griffith, assistant professor, Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine and scientist, Ottawa Health Research Institute
Dr. Griffith is honored for her work in developing artificial corneas for in vitro toxicology testing and transplant.
Career Achievement Award
Dr. Syed Sattar, director, Centre for Research on Environmental Biology and adjunct professor, Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology
Dr. Sattar is celebrated for his contribution to the study of microbial pathogens and the development of a world-class environmental microbiology research centre in Ottawa.
