Four University of Ottawa faculty members have been named University Research Chairs, joining the 20 others who have been awarded the honour since 2003. This program recognizes and supports the outstanding work of researchers at the University of Ottawa.
The new research chairs are:
Ramesh Balasubramaniam (Human Kinetics) is examining the organization of human movement by bringing together cognitive, neurophysiological and dynamical systems approaches to the study of action.
Abdulmotaleb El Saddik (School of Information Technology and Engineering) is making the exchange of data in that environment fully interactive and personalized, so that users on the Internet can experience an enhanced telepresence, made up of images, sounds and touch.
Keith Fagnou (Chemistry) is developing inexpensive and accessible alternatives for the preparation of some of the most widely used molecules in medicinal chemistry and materials science.
Daniel Gervais (Law) is developing parameters that will ensure that the underlying policy objectives of intellectual property and patent protection are fulfilled.
