After over 17 years of service to the University, Claude Dufresne, director of the Computing and Communications Services (CCS) will take his leave on March 30.
He began his career as assistant director of the Computing Centre before becoming interim director of CCS in 1997 and within a year was confirmed as its director. Over the course of his career, Mr. Dufresne has focused on customer service in an environment that has seen a significant increase in demand both by CCS clients and Internet users in general.
His talents as a communicator were very much appreciated during some of the University’s strategic projects, such as the Microsoft Exchange project—an integrated email and agenda solution for employees—and Project Fusion (Enterprise Resource Planning).
“The entire university community has benefited from Claude’s leadership over the last 10 years. Computing services now play an extremely important role both in terms of learning and research and in terms of administration and communications for the entire University, and we thank Claude for his outstanding contribution to the development of these services,” said Victor Simon, vice-president, resources.
Claude Dufresne’s colleagues, friends and family will pay tribute to him at a reception that will take place on Thursday, March 29 at the Resto-Pub Jazzy. We wish Mr. Defresne all the best for a well-deserved retirement.
