The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame recently announced its 2007 inductees, which include Dr. Wilbert Keon. A charismatic leader, surgeon, educator, investigator and now a member of the Senate of Canada, Dr. Keon is known nationally and internationally for his work in cardiology and cardiac surgery.
Dr. Keon is an alumnus of the University of Ottawa and founder of the University’s Heart Institute. Under his leadership, this highly specialized cardiac institution has dedicated 50 per cent of its space to research and discovery, contributing to prevention and treatment of coronary artery disease. Among his numerous honours, Dr. Keon is an Officer of the Order of Canada.
