Gold Medal winner – Thomas Brzustowski

Thomas Brzustowski, RBC Professor in Commercialization of Innovation in the School of Management, is the recipient of the 2006 Professional Engineers Gold Medal award. The gold medal, presented by the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers and Professional Engineers Ontario, recognizes conscientious commitment to public service, technical excellence and outstanding professional leadership.

Known for his commitment to the public sector, Thomas Brzustowski is a former president of the Natural Sciences Engineering Research Council and a former deputy minister in the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of Colleges and Universities, as well in the Premier’s Council.  He is senior advisor and chair of the board of the newly formed Institute of Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo.

Brzustowski has made significant contributions to research and development in Canadian engineering. He is an officer of the Order of Canada, and Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and of the Royal Society of Canada.

Brzustowski will receive his award at a gala on Saturday, November 18, 2006, in Toronto.
