The University of Ottawa, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, the Ottawa Health Research Institute, Algonquin College and the National Capital Institute of Telecommunications officially launched the Ottawa Technology Transfer Network (OTTN).
The OTTN builds on a series of existing collaborations to accelerate the movement of innovative ideas and technologies from the lab to the marketplace. The network will share important invention, patent and technology information and best practices to assist in identifying and seeking commercial opportunities.
“The ORCP support of the Ottawa Technology Transfer Network will result in more effective research commercialization across institutions to firms located in Ottawa and in Ontario,” says Joe Irvine, Director of the Technology Transfer and Business Enterprise at the University of Ottawa.
The OTTN is supported by $2.9 million from the Ontario Research Commercialization Program announced by Premier McGuinty at Algonquin College on July 21.
