Disaster simulation looked authentic

“Victim" is treated during disaster simulation exercise

The volunteer division of the University's St. John Ambulance Community First Aid Brigade held a disaster simulation on campus, on March 10, 2006.

The event's purpose was to evaluate and improve the performance of volunteer responders and present a true-life emergency situation to the student community. The scenario involved a magic show going awry, which provoked an explosion and subsequent panic among the crowd.

Volunteer “victims” wearing professional makeup and exhibiting realistic-looking “injuries” contributed to the authenticity of the scene. Sébastien Hukui is shown here receiving first aid from attendant Ian Wheeler.
