While he was establishing a number of team and Ontario University Athletics (OUA) records as an all-star basketball player with the Gee-Gees, Bill Shane (left) wore number 33. On January 28, 2006, his jersey number was retired during a ceremony presided by current Gee-Gees coach Dave DeAveiro.
Shane played five seasons with the team, from 1985 to 1991, and still holds the title as the all-time leading scorer in OUA games and the Gee-Gees record for most points in a game (42). He was a three-time OUA East All-Star.
