Jorjani will lead in the development and implementation of those programs and services that promote and assist international research projects between the University and its affiliated research institutes and with organizations in and outside of Canada.
“I am keen to support the University’s researchers to develop multilateral international research and development activities,” Jorjani said. “I will work hard for our researchers to negotiate agreements, gather critical information and identify opportunities for major funding proposals.”
Before joining the University of Ottawa, Jorjani worked as a senior advisor in the International Relations Office of the National Research Council of Canada. At NRC, he was also the secretary of the NRC Committee on International Science, Engineering and Technology (CISET).
Jorjani holds a PhD in agricultural and environmental sciences. He has also studied economics and farm management. Apart from international research, his current academic interests focus on effectiveness and performance measures, environmental impact assessment, sustainable development, international development, and conflict resolution.
“The University of Ottawa is going to aggressively pursue new international research and development opportunities for its researchers,” says Nicolas Georganas, associate vice-president, research (external). “Dr. Jorjani, who brings a wealth of experience in that sector, will spearhead this drive. His experience in policy development, his enthusiasm and energy are major assets.”
