In addition to offering you the opportunity to meet with Writing Advisors and participate in discussion groups, the AWHC provides you with many writing support resources. One of these is a  guide titled The Essentials of Academic Writing that contains useful information on:

  • Time management;
  • The writing process;
  • University-level writing expectations;
  • The importance of good text structure;
  • How to use and reference source material;
  • Services and tools available.

Student Academic Success Service (SASS)

In addition to the services offered through the AWHC, the SASS invites you to visit one of the mentorship centers available in several faculties and services.  Student mentors are trained to guide you and are great resources for helping you succeed in your studies. The SASS also offers study skills workshops that can help you better manage your time, improve certain skills, and prepare you for exams.

The Library

65 University Street
Ottawa, ON, Canada
(613) 562-5883

The mentors working at the Morisset Library Student Mentoring Centre will help you improve your research and writing skills and provide you with information on the resources available at the library.

Graduate students

As a graduate student, you have three different roles: student, researcher and teacher, if you have a teaching assistant position. To help you act with integrity in these three roles, SASS has prepared the Strategic Guide to Graduate Studies that we invite you to consult.

The AWHC offers several resources specifically designed for graduate students, such as individual consultations with Graduate Writing Advisors, a grad writing kit, graduate group discussions, and thesis supports groups.

The Library’s web site also includes a section for services tailored to graduate students to help them in their roles as researchers and teaching assistants.
