About Us
The Ottawa Chapter of the Canadian Society for Life Science Research is a non-profit organization that brings together Canadian researchers to promote life science research, including Public Health. The CSLSR is a student run initiative that offers you the opportunity to further your professional development and to obtain resources needed to attain your goal.

Our Mission and Mandate
The mission of the CSLSR is to provide a framework to support the professional development of life science students. The CSLSR sees researchers at the forefront of innovations and discoveries that will improve the health care system of Canadians. Our services ensure that life science students have access to resources that will encourage the pursuit of a career in life science research. We strive to provide leadership, an environment that fosters trust and collaboration, and a voice for the general public.
The CSLSR mandates:
- Mentorship
- Helping students navigate their way through university
- Informing students about their roles and responsibilities
- Guiding students towards the proper resources
- Connecting students with leading researchers
- Information sessions on how to apply for a research position
- Matching/reference programme to bring research students with potential supervisors for the summer or graduate school
- Facilitating the exchange of ideas
- Avenues to promote communication among life science students
- Connecting students with professional and corporate organizations
- Networking events for students and professional organizations
- Career preparation seminars for students entering graduate or professional schools, or professional careers
- Involving our communities
- Joint fundraising events with organizations that promote and/or facilitate life science research

- Life science outreach events for high school students to encourage the pursuit of a scientific education
